When you place your hands on the club, you "lock your core" in that position. If you grip the club with an open hip line (your pelvis rotated open to the target), you will still be open when you square your stance to your target line and your path will follow your hip line the majority of the time. The following videos will show you when to place your hands on the club. Note: If your left and/or right hand grip size is incorrect for your hands, your core will respond to that by tightening on one side and creating right or left rotation of your hips.
